SAVANNAH – Alice Lee Johnston passed away peacefully following a long illness on April 16, 2010 at Hospice House of Savannah, surrounded by her family and caregivers.
Alice was born in Columbus, GA and moved to Savannah in 1960. She was a long-time member of Wesley Monumental United Methodist Church, loving her church friends there and participating in many activities with them. Alice was also a 20-year volunteer at St. Joseph's-Candler Hospital where she enjoyed her time in the flower room as a pink lady. She was a member of the Savannah Golf Club where she played golf regularly and was a member of the Savannah Women's Golf Association. She was a loving wife, wonderful mother, and an extraordinary grandmother.
Alice will forever be remembered by her devoted husband of 63 years, Ed Johnston of Savannah, her son Bill Johnston and his wife Kathie of Savannah, her daughter Pam Robertson of Hilton Head, SC, treasured grandchildren Julie Mueller, Alice Robertson, Joseph Robertson, Bo Johnston, and Patrick Johnston, one great-grandson, Henry, along with countless other friends and family who were fortunate to know her.
Alice was blessed with eight years of loving care by her caregivers Alfreda Myers, Patricia Stinson, Sheila Brown, and Nita Joyner, and her family would like to extend their gratitude for all these cherished ones have done.
A graveside funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, April 19, 2010 in the Greenwich Section of Bonaventure Cemetery.
